Pediatric Speech Therapy in Huntsville, AL
Play.Learn.Grow
Every child has something to say. When words are slow to come, hard to understand, or hard to make sense of, speech therapy can help. At A Piece of the Puzzle Therapy, our licensed speech-language pathologists help infants, toddlers and school-age children talk, understand and connect, in a warm, play-based setting just off University Drive in Huntsville.
Signs your child may benefit from speech therapy
Not babbling or using gestures like pointing or waving by 12 months
Few or no words by 18 months
Not combining two words ("more milk," "daddy go") by age 2
Family members or teachers have trouble understanding your child's speech
Frustration, tantrums or withdrawing when trying to communicate
Trouble following directions or answering simple questions
Repeating sounds or words, or getting "stuck" when talking
Some toddlers simply take longer to start talking; others need support to catch up. We help late talkers build first words, combine words into phrases, and use language to ask, comment and play. Parents learn simple strategies to grow language during everyday routines like meals, bath time and play.
If something feels off, trust your instincts. An evaluation gives you clear answers and a plan, and early support makes a real difference.
Speech Therapy Works!
Speech and language services we provide:
Late talkers and early language development
Some toddlers simply take longer to start talking; others need support to catch up. We help late talkers build first words, combine words into phrases, and use language to ask, comment and play. Parents learn simple strategies to grow language during everyday routines like meals, bath time and play.
Articulation and phonology (speaking clearly)
If your child is hard to understand, drops or swaps sounds ("wabbit" for "rabbit," "tat" for "cat"), or has trouble with sounds like R, S, L or TH, articulation therapy helps. We find the patterns behind the errors and teach clear, confident speech that carries over to home and school.
Understanding language (receptive language)
Some children talk but struggle to understand what they hear. They may have trouble following directions, answering questions, learning new words or keeping up in class. We build listening and comprehension skills, from pointing to named pictures and following one-step directions to understanding stories and concepts.
